Students from TENDRING ENTERPRISE STUDIO SCHOOL show entrepreneur skills at a National level.

Developing enterprise skills is fundamental to the curriculum at TENDRING ENTERPRISE STUDIO SCHOOL, where students , in addition to the core subject are able to follow a vocational option including Engineering, Animal Care, Horticulture, Automotive etc as well as following Employability and Enterprise courses to prepare them for the world of work.

Following the success of TESS students receiving the Dream 100 Young Entrepreneur Award 2014 students have gone on to submit x5 business proposals to the National competition ‘Tycoon in School’. Every single proposal is read by Dragon’s Den Peter Jones, who then select proposals in which he prepared to invest a loan.

TESS students achieved 100% rate with all five of their proposals being selected and securing the maximum loan of £1000 to help set up their businesses.  The businesses include #TESSCafe- this team will be running a cafe at local Farmers’  Markets preparing & serving local free range Pulled Pork rolls and Turkey rolls. #TESSFruit&Veg delivers fresh fruit and veg to households within the Harwich area, supporting and promoting healthy eating in an area of need. #TESSCreates will be producing bespoke products such as platters and cheeseboards which their will sell at local Farmers’ Markets and Christmas Fairs, but are keen to attract orders from local restaurants. #Crazythinking produce quirky seasonal goods from up-cycled materials to meet the Christmas trade. #Trickyjaydesigns produces low cost high quality  bespoke acrylic medals and favours to the customers specification.

Each business will receive a set up loan, business cards and have their own profile that they must keep up-dated on the Tycoon in Schools website.

Trading runs from 3rd Nov to 19th Dec. Each business will be judged on their profitability, marketing and effectiveness as a business. In the New Year there will be the announcement of overall National Winners.
